A closed-in 2000s kitchen opened to the den so three kids, two cooks, and a dog could share the same room on a Tuesday.
Bellaire family houses often have a kitchen that is “fine” and a den that is where life happens — with a wall between them. We took the wall down, stole a sliver for a real pantry, and specified finishes that can take backpacks.
This is kitchen remodeling in Houston as daily life: not a listing photograph, the Tuesday. We avoided hyper-personal tile and kept the island long enough for homework and the next decade of family dinners.
